Back when vinyl was the 'only thing' I used to sling but it became too much of a job and I lost a bit of my soul.  I only ever played in gay venues but 'then' was also a time when the gay scene was where the music was better than what you would hear anywhere else, not just another Rihanna remix mashed up with whatever got tossed out in the garbage 6 months ago.

Question:  Acid is still going?  Please point me in the direction of today's acid.

Also, I usually avoid Jungle, just a personal preference but I liked your mix especially the You Don't Love Me version you have.  Thanks.

Cheers man , i prefer vinyl too and i still have my decks , however its hard to get in Australia and 90% of the time i will play at an outdoor bush doof and its only cd decks , so i dont mind , i do draw the line with people who think they are Djing from ipods  :crazy2:

I pretty much still use german stuff in regards to acid from 94 ,  the younger crowd love it , but there is quality acid being produced especially by Alliance303

I only tried LSD because I loved Acid House so much.  And then I only "candy flipped" because I liked that version of Strawberry Fields Forever by Candy Flip even more.  If this is indicative of what Acid is today https://soundcloud.com/benji303/benji303-may-2015-dj-mix-1 the House should never have been dropped.  Like who was it that said Rock'n'Roll got boring when they dropped the roll & just called it Rock.  It sounds more like it should be called Wink and royalties should be paid to Josh Wink cause all I hear is Josh Wink sped up.

                I feel old.

To be clear I don't prefer vinyl, I hated lugging those crates on public transit (I am a designated drinker never been licensed to drive) and if I didn't secretly hope one day there will be a demand for the supply of vinyl I have I would throw out all the records yesterday.  At this point even all the years of CDs I bought are all sitting in one box (except for Pink Floyd's Shine On boxset & U.F.Off) just waiting for someone to say "Sure I'd love all those cds" and it's all or none when that day comes.

I am an oddity though, I didn't even like the term DJ and never placed it before my name, just "music by".  I blew up like a forgotten land mine when I agreed to do a party for a friend (out of the kindness of my heart trying to help them out no cash expected and not even a tab) and they listed me as DJ Blablabla.

:cheesy2: I just like to mix, be it alcohol or music or minds.

Acid Arab okay, but it seems like the opposite and it's just slowed down.  Maybe acid died with This Is Acid - Maurice for me and it's best left in the grave  :blind:  I know there's been a couple tracks since then I've thought "They be tripping" but until this weekend I was ignorant of a whole movement still existing.  Is 'new beat' still a thing too?  I like it too and was surprised it didn't blow up.  Last summer I jumped on the nu disco bandwagon and haven't hopped off since.  I like when the music sounds like it was made by machines but not by machines designed to kill.  I also get lost with all the different labels for music.  There is only label that matters (Diesel) and there is either dance music or the other crap.  Hee hee.

Props to the Detroit sound my brother !, frankly when i say Acid i mean TB303 based
but ya know 20 , 30 yrs down the track or what ever it is and Phuture still gets the punters dancing
new beat as in the belgian stuff ??? i dont think it exists anymore.

label wise im fairly easy , as for genres , im ok with them except when i hear the young pups saying they like EDM as a style which to me makes no fucking sense since EDM means electronic dance music

my two cents worth , bring back electroclash , that shit was low tek and sexy as fuck !

I agree with you on electroclash  Emerge & the Adult. remix of Hands Around My Throat by Death In Vegas are still in my regular rotation.  As well same era the Playgroup remix of New Wave by Common still gets played by me a lot.  However I think a return to electroclash will just be another return to the eighties but this is where we get into the new catch phrase term to define a genre.  It really astounds me just how diverse music can be that we need all these different terms.  I never liked EDM as 'label', I remember it first being used during the mid-nineties Chemical Brothers/Prodigy/Underworld wave and it seemed to me to be a way to make dance music less gay sounding, more palatable to middle str8 America.

Ahhhh so thats where it comes from this EM tom foolery , the Aussie scene was transplanted at the same time as the DIY UK scene so our rave "Summer of Love " 87,88 Acid House to Rave explosion was parallel to the Mother country , lately im  getting a lot more gigs at parties that are very much so Aussiecentric in sound and style ( we call them bush doofs ) think psytrance meets punk ethos and chunky dirty tB303 and non repetitive 4/4 wonky beats with a very Aussie flavour . unfortunately im getting less and less gigs in my beloved Jungle area :afr2:

LOVE IT!  I'll tell you why in particular, I love it when I go "Hey wait what's that sample?" and get stumped.  To me that means it's an inventive use and I enjoy that working of the noodle.  Took to the 2 minute mark before I was like "I'm so stupid"   Mind you I am not anywhere near the dance floor at that speed.

I have personal Sa-sa-samantha Fox issues so I'll plead the fifth.

                                            Maybe?  MAYBE?

Just today Google asked if I would like to test drive their new scratch & sniff technology, I said sure not knowing exactly how I would incorporate it but now here we go with an opportunity presenting itself.  At the very least now when fairies nuts come up you'll be able to say "They really do smell quite nice you know" or "Not as funky as one suspects".
