When does it come as an automatic update?
Usually there's a few weeks/month between the time it available for download and as an automatic update.

It is currently proposed by Windows Update on my laptop (French Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit) for download and instalation. Much faster than expected by members on different forums.

I just got this yesterday in the 3am download.
-
it showed up in my 'Automatic Updates' a couple of days ago…does that mean it isn't in the beta stage any more ? (if it is then im a bit apprehensive to install it)
-
^ No, it's NOT a beta, aaliass. It's the final release.
Vista SP2 has been OUT of beta since I started this thread May 26, I don't know why it always takes a few weeks for the service packs to show up in automatic update. I started this thread so that people who wanted to get it early could do so.
The SP2 should be safe to install (well, as safe as anything from Microsoft ever is).

oh ok, i had read on some random forum that it was beta so wanted to clarify….thank you
and for those who have installed it - approximately how long does it take for the update ? (im asking cause i was thinking of leaving it on the whole night to install)

If you keep your computer fully updated with the previous automatic updates, it should only take about 15 minutes {including below}.
It will need 1 automatic reboot and 1 manual full shut down to finish.
