What settings should I use to increase upload speed?
-
Hey guys,
My upload speeds for gaytorrent.ru suck. Although my upload speeds to 3 other sights I belong to are very fast. I have even stopped all torrents from uploading except for the ones from here (.ru) but, still very slow. I have switched up my ports and looked for any tweak I can find. Nothing seems to increase my upload speed (only at this site) I am currently seeding 83 videos. None are uploading. :cry2:
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Well, I haven't looked at any of your torrents specifically yet, but I will offer you some general comments.
This site is very international… so its highly likely on any specific torrent that the leechers are not close to you in a networking sense, and so that will obviously have an impact on speeds. That could explain why some uploads are slower but that won't explain why you don't upload at all.
Not uploading usually means either you're not connectable, which is usually a firewall issue, or that there is no one downloading what you're offering. On this site, there is always new content showing up, and so for any particular torrent, it's time to shine is very limited... before you know it it falls off the front page and very few new people will stumble across it unless its something they searched for. What this means is that you get the most uploads against the newest torrents, and then as they age off, there are less and less people downloading them. If a torrent is made freeleech, that tends to drive it on to the next level... and it has another brief moment to shine... but the problem then is that its highly likely it has a larger number of seeders by the time it hits the freeleech (because by then it is a week old at least, and already had the first round of downloaders when it was newly uploaded.)
I will also say that there are probably a largish number of users of seedboxes on the site. A seedbox is somewhat harder to compete with... because it appears very fast to the leechers, and the leechers will automatically tune themselves to connect to the fastest seeds. That said, it's not impossible to still get some uploads, even with seedboxes in the mix... it just makes it somewhat slower going. Also, if there are seedboxes here on this site, then they're also likely on the other sites you frequent too.
So here's what I recommend: When you download a torrent, try to be one of the first to become a seeder for it. This gives you the best chance at uploading against it. One approach is to see what is newly uploaded, and pick something that is likely to popular, and jump in. The default search order should be to show the newest stuff first. The popularity thing is a little harder to judge... there are a couple of key content types I have noticed that do well here: bareback and twinks. This is always a "market" for almost anything... but the more niche fetish stuff is not going to be as downloaded as the more mainstream stuff.
One final thing... click on your user ID, scroll to the bottom of the linked page. Here you can see a list of your torrents. Look at this list and see how many seeders there are for the torrents you're also seeding. In general, the higher the number of seeders, the less of a chance each of them have to upload against a torrent. (If all thinks were equal amongst all seeders, the best you could statistically expect is a proportional share.... so for 40 seeders, you could expect 1/40th of the total traffic.) The number of leechers matters, but be wary of collections where there will appear to be leechers, but they may not actually be downloading all the files, so the will forever appear to be leechers... they're really another seeder, but not for all of the content.
I don't know if I offered you more than some possible explanations... torrenting is a bit like the wild wild west and its hard to know what's really going on out there.... but try my suggestion of downloading some new of the newest content and see how that works for you.

NMD,
Thanx bro, I am aware of all those items. All great points.
My problem isn't that what I'm sharing no one is leaching.
Like I said in my post. I am a member of 3 other torrent sites and my upload speeds there are awesome. It is only GT.ru that I don't upload to well at all.
My question is… Why are my uploads to GT.ru very very poor but, I UL very fast everywhere else.
I'm curious if there is any setting that would increase my UL speed to GT.ru.adidasjock

WOW, This was a waste asking for help on here

I looked at the peers lists of some of your seeding torrents and some show that you're connectible, and other that you're not.
That might not help you particularly at the moment, but it might be a start… maybe. I'm trying to think what might cause that, it's rather odd.How many torrents do you have running in your torrent client? Try seeding torrents only for this tracker and see if your speed improves. I'm wondering if you have far more torrents from other trackers than you have from this one. It might have to do with the way your torrent client is queuing torrents. Could be taking a long time to queue ones from this site, or not queuing very many, or the most beneficial ones.

trukr,
Thanx for the suggestions. I only share torrents with RU. My #'s are great at the other torrent share sites I belong to. It's only RU that I have an upload speed problem. I have 10mB/s up speed and get damn close with the other sites. The best I can get on RU is 150kB/s. Currently I am uploading 25kB/s. I am sharing 76 torrents but the site reads that I'm sharing 68 torrents here on RU and not sharing anywhere else. When I open up sharing at the other site, my speeds jump right up to them. I've only shared with RU 24/7 for the past week. I'm in IT, so I have the ports open and have tried tweaking the settings. Nothing I do seems to make any difference. Sad, I like this site the most. -
Can you share what client and settings you are using? Are you using a VPN?
What you seem to be saying is that you get slow UL on this site but not on others, this tracker isn't doing anything all that different then other trackers, so this is a pretty difficult problem to diagnose.
I've personally had some issues caused by my old cheap router being a piece of junk, resetting it fixed the issue but only temporarily. Have you tried reducing your out going connections by turning off resolve host names and disabling DHT?
-
Have you tried updating your torrent client to the most recent version or tried using a different one? Who knows, maybe the tracker doesn't like that version.
I've seen problems with this tracker and certain torrent clients and/or specific versions. Switching to something else (an update or another client) has helped other people in the past.
Dunno what else it can be at the moment, but I'll post if I think another possibility.
You seem to have pretty much everything else covered as far as configs and sharing enough of torrents with leechers.
Hope that helps. -
I have changed my torrent program, Bought a VPN, port-forwarded and tried new seed. Nothing seems to work
-
Like I said b4. This is only an issue here at RU
I get excellent speeds at the other 2 torrent sites I belong to. -
There are 2 things you need to do:
-
Seed torrents that actually have leechers downloading them
-
Open the proper ports in the NAT built into your router so that the correct ports are being forwarded to your torrent client from your router to allow you to connect as an active node, instead of a passive node. This will go a long way at helping you get your rates up and such.

Evening gents. I am a real greenhorn, and deff not a tech savy person. Today I noticed a redband that says I am not connectable. I have no idea what might have changed, and have had serious ratio issues on here so any help would me much appreciated. Sorry if this isn't the place for this particular question…I flicked around on here and found no where else remotely close as far as support.
thanks in advance for anyones time

I would go look in the forum the red banner directs you to https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=7598.0

I have the same problem, other sites my ratio is over 1, yet here I used to struggle to keep my account viable. I think its because there is an unhealthy focus on uploading rather then seeding, which encourages farming seedboxes.
Anyway the two things which have helped me is maximising my seeding (I currently have 400 odd torrents seeding atm) to catch anybody wanting to download and downloading freeleach.
Not great but they work

@addidasjock: Looking through the torrents seeded, it appears that low upload rates are due to missing downloading peers.
I've made 5 torrents out of them with a low seed number freeleech. If missing downloading peers are the issue, you should see soon a short spike in your upload rate.
