it's present in precum because precum = ejaculate minus sperm cells
but, in such low concentrations that it's nearly impossible to contract it that way (and i doubt ANYONE EVER has)

So it's highly unlikely that it could be contracted through anal or oral sex with precum?

What you need to understand when answering this question is that there's a difference between possibility and probability. In reality, anything is possible, however it doesn't mean it's likely. In this case, in theory, it is possible to contract HIV from pre-cum, however the reality is that there is no real medical evidence that points to the presence of HIV in pre-cum. By the same token, there is no evidence that directly concludes that it is not present either.
The reality is that although possible in theory, the actual odds and probability of it are virtually nonexistent.

This is correct… What this post also does not mention is that saliva actually contains a naturali enzime that kills HIV believe it or not. This is a large part as to why oral sex presents next to NO risk for HIV transmission. In fact, there has not been so much as one single documented case where HIV transmission has occurred solely from oral sex. That alone should speak for itself.

Kudos to the moderator for pointing out facts about saliva and the possibility of certain enzymes inactivating the virus. Except as noted in a previous post, there are no documented stats that show anyone ever contracting HIV through oral sex. Just be careful of any wounds in the mouth. Brushing your teeth CAN cause minute openings in the gums.

Oral sex is much less risky than anal or vaginal sex – but HIV still can enter through open cuts and sores, or possibly by infecting the lining of the mouth. There are some documented cases of people getting HIV through their mouth.
Once semen gets past the mouth, stomach acid and enzymes in the esophagus kill the virus. So swallowing or spitting out semen (cum or precum) reduces your risk for HIV, compared with letting it sit in your mouth.
A popular jingle is: Spit or Swallow, Don’t Let it Wallow.To reduce your risk even more, make sure you keep the mucous membranes in your mouth healthy – don’t perform oral for about 45 minutes after you brush your teeth, floss, or engage in any other aggravating oral behavior, and not at all when you have open sores.
As to the pre-cum question. Yes, HIV is found in pre-cum. As to the amount that is dependent on the viral load of the person. Also note that the viral load of the blood maybe different than the viral load of pre-cum/semen.

"Some" cases? The only one that I'm aware of is the woman who claims that she contracted HIV through oral sex when she performed it the day following dental surgery while she was still bleeding somewhat. Some would suggest that there is more than 1 case, which makes me curious to know what case(s) they're referring to….

But then you have to think if you have oral sex, then anal sex and get HIV which mode of transmission caused the infection?
I think the best bet is to remember no sex is 100% space.

More likely than not, it would be the anal sex that would cause it in a case like that. The reason that I say this is that I have a few nurse friends, one of which works specifically dealing with HIV. In their many many years of experience, they have NEVER seen so much as ONE positive test result when oral sex has been the only mode of contact. Granted, this does not prove that it's impossible, but it sure does suggest that it's not very likely.

ITT: Anecdotal evidence. Oral sex is a low-risk transmission probablity for HIV. Anal sex, even non-ejaculate, is considered high risk. Now, if you've ever had an exposure risk and you've gone through the probabilities with your doctor, they'd seem like small numbers - but in large populations they're not, and the possibility of infection is high. There's a reason millions of dollars are spent on telling people to use condoms.
Pre-seminal fluid can contain HIV which is why pulling out has never been advised as a good practice. If you had a womb and the morning after pill was only about 60% effective, abortions unavailable and babies incurable, would you have sex without condoms and pull out on the basis that pre-seminal fluid is less likely to contain an infectious viral load?
No sex is 100% safe, you're absolutely correct - but that doesn't mean it's at all advisable to take a fatalist approach and suggest that just because you can't be 100% safe, it's not worth being as close to it as possible. It is absolutely worth putting effort into safer sex practices. Use condoms, serosort, or talk to your sexual health GP.

You also got to remember that your mouth may have small cuts where the virus may enter. Just make sure you have healthy gums to lessen the risk. They told us that during an orientation.

There has been no scientifically proven link between oral sex and HIV, however there has been many cases of anechdotal transmission. Pre cum can contain the HIV virus, but depends on viral load and the quantity of precum. its best to speak to a sexual health advisor, good websites are aidsmap and terrence higgins trust.
If you are concerned about HIV and oral sex a read of a 10 year study in Spain between a group of couples heterosexual and homosexual in which one was HIV positive and the only form of sex was oral and in some 20,000 oral sexual encounters receptive and active no transmission was found. Allow me to shed some light on that…. There has been nothing that scientifically proves that HIV is present in pre-cum. Let's be very clear about that. :panic:
Regardless of whether or not HIV is present in pre-cum, there has never been so much as one documented case of HIV transmission through oral sex alone (and believe me... such things ARE tracked). I will agree that the viral load of the partner who is HIV+ plays a role in the risk assessment. Several accredited studies have now been done specifically to quantify the risk associated with bareback sex among gay men. The troubling problem that they each and every one of the studies has had so far is that not one of them has been able to even reasonably suggest that there has been even one case of HIV transmission from a partner with an undetectable viral load to another individual.
Simply put, the lower the viral load, the lower the risk. If not even one case of transmission has happened even with repeated bareback sex when one partner is undetectable, it would certainly stand to reason that the future studies that are under way to test the theory that you cannot transmit the virus if undetectable are likely to be quite promising. I myself have NEVER used a condom since I have been undetectable and can still proudly say that with several years of repeated bareback sex with some partners who are not HIV+, I have NEVER transmitted HIV to another person. Several years of this same result from my own experience can confirm that I too have accomplished the same end result.
