Your Local High-Speed & Cable Provider

I stumbled across this on Facebook of all places the other day. I thought it was so true that I just had to Youtube the bitch and share it here

I have often goggled at the prices people pay in north America for mediocre service.
Just sitting here in a city in UK I have the choice of three fibre BB providers and oodles of non-fibre ones.

While I too wonder why Americans put up with daft prices in return for relatively little (it's what happens when corporations go largely unchallenged), it's probably best not get too complacent or, God forbid, smug. We in England/rest of the UK have little to crow about. Too much of Europe leaves us for dust when it comes to speeds and sheer value for money.
ADD: Good vid though MM…. ;D

Comcast High-Speed Internet Plans
Blast! v50 Mbit/s ^10 Mbit/s $76.95/mo.
Extreme 105 v105 Mbit/s ^20 Mbit/s $114.95/mo.
Extreme 505 v505 Mbit/s ^105 Mbit/s $399.95/mo.
:crazy2: -
Plusnet Part-fibre (FTTC)
68-72Mbps down - 18-19Mbps up - £34/€42.50/$57 mo
Not massively different to Comcast Blast.

Sadly, that's the state that we're in these days. We have some independent providers here, but they're just wholesale re-sellers of the same service essentially…. just at a lower price. You get far less support from the bigwig company though if something ever goes wrong.
The "closed-door meetings" they refer to in this video are what are known in Canada as CRTC meetings, and known in the USA as FCC meetings. The board of directors at the CRTC consist of some of the same board of directors as the big boy providers who collectively own the monopoly. Can we say "Conflict of Interest" ? LOL :crazy2:

^^ What's the typical speed/charge, MM? And do you have usage caps? Most ISPs here - England/rest of UK - don't have caps.
