Unsuccessful attempts at seeding uploads
-
Hello,
I'm new to the site and have spent hours trying to seed an uploaded file of Mitch Colby but have been unsuccessful. I have tried communicating with the help staff to no avail. It seems that whatever I do try to re-download the torrent does not work. I hit the "download" button on the page that I have created with the description of the video on this site but it just jumps to "searching for peers." The times I have been able to do a force re-check, nothing much happens.Any ideas?

When the forced recheck fails once after a redirection of the download, it becomes difficult (next to impossible) to set the downloading directory correctly.
The best is to remove the torrent from µTorrent, but not the data files and to re-add it then after.
Before re-adding, set in µTorrent's preferences for UI settings to show a window which displays the files in the torrent, when adding a torrent (the exact wording of that option differs slightly).
Then when you add a torrent, there will be a small window. There aside the path to the download location is a button "[. . .]", click it and navigate to the directory/folder which contains the movie file and then "Save". It is important to select the folder, not the file itself.
Then run a forced re-check if the check doesn't start automatically. Start the torrent.
I find it unfair to say "… I have tried communicating with the help staff to no avail." when I can see that you've got n answer indicating the steps to follow within an hour after asking. If that answer didn't succeed, you need to follow-up with the answering moderator.

I didn't mean to be offensive. I simply meant that I had been totally unsuccessful in trying to seed the uploaded file (and that it is still invisible) even though I have spent probably over 8 hours trying over and over again, doing things in different combinations and order. I feel pretty stupid at this point. I appreciate the moderator angel getting back to me several times. I tried following his suggestions. Nothing has worked.

It was the word "no avail.", which sounds like you've got no answer at all and puts the effort of the team in a wrong light.
Getting the first own upload running can be a big headache indeed. You should not feel stupid. It took me multiple attempts and days to get my first own torrent seeding many years ago (on another tracker). At least you ask for help, instead of giving up right away without asking, something we see on more than 50 torrents each day
We could join in the IRC chat on a private channel, if you use our AJAX client to go there "Chat" in the blue menu band. Then the AJAX client button.

Sorry if I'm being stupid or stating the obvious but AFTER you download your own torrent you should open it as usual in your torrent client and then point your client to the exact file you made your torrent from.
You are not trying to 'download' -if your torrent client says it is 'downloading' your file you haven't pointed it to the file on your disk.
Again apologies if I have stepped on anyone's toes or am teaching granny to suck eggs
