Does ratio expire?

I cannot find an answer to this anywhere on the site, nor on the forums:
Does ratio expire?
If I upload something, and get a good ratio, does it disappear if i don't log-in for a month (or longer)?I am assuming: if i upload 1 file of, for example, 300mb and after that only download, without ever uploading anything, I guess my ratio changes to zero over time?
I'd like more of an overview/example of what can happen in the course of multiple weeks.Also: I don't quite understand what happens when others are not leeching. If no one leeches my files, I get a poor ratio, but that's not my 'fault' is it?

Ratio does not expire, it is the result of your Upload and Download, it is actually the rtio between these two and expresses how well you share (to a certain extend).
Ratio = Upload / Download
That means in your example, you'll first have no (or infinite) ratio because of the division by zero not being defined and then it is going down from a high value towards a low value close zero (it will display zero when it gets below 0.0005).
Regarding your question what happens when others don't leech, well normally everything is leeched by someone sooner or later. The later can take months or years. You influence the probability having leecher by the choice of your torrent. Top new, one file only, 1 seed only, yet few leecher torrents are good. Freeleech, too. I'd download only those I like, not just because of ratio …

Thank you!
That is a very clear answer. -
I've forgotten to mention: As long as you seed at least one completed download (all files downloaded), you'll get 0.5 bonus points per hour seeding, even without actually uploading any data.
