Can you reseed a dead torrent even when you haven't downloaded it?

I know duplicated torrents are not allowed so, hypothetically, if I had one file that is identical to one alredy uploaded in a dead torrent, would I be able to reseed it without the size of the file being added to my ratio?
      Thanks.

Right. The file you've already got needs to match to the byte the file in the torrent's file list then the procedure is the same than reseeding a file downloaded from here.

Thanks, I know now that my ratio won't go lower by doing it.

When you add a torrent to your torrent client to reseed a file you've already got and it starts downloading, something went wrong. Stop the torrent ASAP, the downloaded data will count. Then read the reseed guide(s) to understand what went wrong and how to correct that.

yeah, that has happened to me. But that's because I gave the location to a folder that doesn't have the file, I'm a bit more experienced now. Thanks. I'll go check reseed guide.
