Finding peers for hours
-
I've tried to download 2 different torrents and for hours each one was stuck on finding peers. I've restarted, uninstalled utorrent and installed a new torrent client too and nothing is working.
-
Let's see if we can help…
OK...delete the torrent...just the torrent in your torrent program.
Then make sure that there is a copy of the file you are uploading in the FOLDER THAT YOUR TORRENT PROGRAM USES FOR STORING TORRENTS THAT ARE DOWNLOADING...where your active downloads are;
Then click on download again on your torrent page on GayTorrent.ru.
Watch you download page of your torrent program and see if it "checks" the file, and then moves it to download.
At that point you should be complete, and within a few minutes it should show as connectable.
Good Luck
Thanks for your support of GayTorrent.ru
Best regards

Nope, it didn't change a thing.
Maybe showing you this will help in some way.

"Offline ( …)" means your µTorrent can't connect to the tracker. Now we need to find the reason.
Are you using torrents for other trackers and are those downloading? If yes, we can exclude the ISP doing a port and torrent protocol blocking.
-
Yes, torrents for other trackers are working fine. Just the torrents from here aren't downloading.
-
Can you try to "ping" our tracker, please.
Windows Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Comand Prompt > type "ping tracker.gaytorrent.tw" in the black window that opens and then hit "Enter" on your keyboard.
Then repeat with tracker.gaytorrent.ru
What does it say?

I tried both and got request timed out 4 times for each and Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss)

So we can exclude a µTorrent configuration issue and have to look to the DNS (domain name server setting and resolution)
Can you try to change the DNS setting in your internet connection property settings (IP4) to another DNS than the automatic.
For example Googles DNS 8.8.8.8 (or 8.8.4.4) or the OpenDNS. On OpenDNS you'll find how to do that for different type of operating systems.
If that doesn't help, two other areas to look at:
- Anti-virus / parental control / internet security suite
- "hosts" file (though you are a new user and shouldn't have made any entry for gaytorrent there …)
-
I changed the DNS setting from automatic to Googles DNS 8.8.8.8, then restarted and it's still the same. I also did it with 8.8.4.4 and still the same.
Looked in my internet security suite and I don't see anything that would be preventing me from downloading torrents from here.
Maybe extra information will help. This started last week when I switched internet providers, at first no torrents were downloading so I uninstalled my torrent program and that fixed my torrent problem except for the ones from here.

With restarted, you mean restarted the computer. If not try that. I am still thinking what to try next …
Update:
With that change of ISP, did you change the internet security suite, i.e. to the ISP bundle including Norton? With the changed DNS setting, can you retry the ping, what does it give? Still time out?
