Problem with length of audio files after splitting.

I have a 3 hour audio file. I split it to 3 one hour files for burning purposes. After I had the 3 files, windows (8) still shows each file as the length it was before I split it. Going into properties, there are boxes to check to remove things like genre, album and year, but no box next to the length of the file. Anyone encounter this before? Thanks!
