Torrents not seeding
-
Hi,
Just wondering why all the downloads I have made, none seem to be seeding.
Most are low seeder high leecher torrents too.
I'm currently using Utorrent.Thanks guys

At this moment you are not seeding any torrent for our tracker … and the torrents you've completed are high seeder no leecher torrents, with one exception having a few leecher, from which you can't expect upload soon.
First think to check is if your torrent client programme is connectible. µTorrent > Options > Setup Guide > select only the "Network" box and run the test. It should return a green check sign result (not orange). Only when it is connectible, it will receive requests from others to send data.

I have no problem downloading but my torrents stop seeding shortly after they are done downloading. I use Vuze, it usually says "Scrape Error - File Not Found". Please help, don't want to be a "hit and run". Cheers.

For Vuze / Azureus please look there to change it's priority settings > https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=16166.0

Hi Popper,
I need to increase my ratio from .65 to .70 in (now just) 20 days. So you can imagine the effort I've been expending daily to seed my files. I had sent you an email earlier and you had responded, thanks for that. Putting that problem aside for the moment, I'd just like to echo the messages in this thread: my completed files are not seeding. A couple are active on the utorrent joblist right now, but the upload rate shows a minimal figure when it is not zero. I might have found the reason for the problem: when I went to the Setup Guide and ran the tests, the Bandwidth test "x"-ed the indicated location, "Sydney, Australia." I changed it to a few locations, which were then checked in green, then saved it. However, when I went back to check, the new location was not saved. It had gone back to Sydney. By the way, the error that appears with the "x" is "No such host is known." :cry2:

I have the exact same issue, in fact, that's why came here to check the forums to see if I could find a solution for it. I am getting site warnings because my ratio has fallen to .79 and no one ever uploads my torrents.
In fact, for the past couple of months nobody ever seems to upload torrents that I have downloaded from GayTorrent.ru. It wasn't always like this; I used to have a healthy ratio but something has changed. Right now I have 19 torrents seeding with not even a nibble of an upload on any of them since I downloaded them – some since April 29th. The thing is, usually there are some uploads going on while I am downloading but as soon as the download finishes and the torrent begins seeding, no more uploads. This makes for a dismal upload ratio.
I don't think this is a setting issue on my torrent client (uTorrent) because I use another similar gay file sharing service and do not have this problem at all using uTorrent with the exact same settings. My ratio with that site is 3.2 because, as I try to do here, I seed until my ratio is healthy. And my "behavior" on both sites is similar, I download the same types of torrents on both sites, as well as both new and older torrents. Am I missing something? What is different about GayTorrent.ru that could be a reason for this? Is there some sort of port setting needed by GayTorrent.ru that is not needed for other sites? I'd appreciate any help I can get, thanks.
It figures. Not long after I wrote the above, somebody began uploading one of my seeds at 250 kB/s. I guess the answer is that there were just plain no leeches for all those torrents I was seeding. At any rate, I decided to put together and upload a large compilation to upload to help boost my ratio in the meantime.

… The thing is, usually there are some uploads going on while I am downloading but as soon as the download finishes and the torrent begins seeding, no more uploads. ...
That can have two reasons:
1/ You jump late on the wave and when you finish download, there are nearly only seeder left in the swarm
or
2/ Your torrent client programme is not connectible and doesn't receive requests to send data. If you use µTorrent/BitTorrent:
Options > Setup guide > select the "Network" test and run it. The result should be a green check sign. If it is orange, it is not connectible.Issues of connection are usually the Firewall exceptions (including of Anti-virus and internet Security Suite software) and the portforwarding / NAT.

same problem here. :cry2:

That is because there are now downloader (leecher) on the torrents you seed.
It will be the same on the torrent you leech, because you are not late on the wave, you are much after it. It got more than 100 seeds, but only you as leecher, which means there will be no one immediately to seed to when you finished downloading, and if a downloader appears, you'll compete with many.
With low ratio, you should select very new torrents, you like, when they have only one seed and yet not too many leecher or freeleech torrents, you like, with enough freeleech duration left to finish the download.
I stress on "you like", because after download, you should keep the files seeding for long and not delete it after a week or so.
-
This is a great site because of the variety, but the inability to seed after you're finished leeching is a real drag. I have no idea why this site seems to be the only one I have this issue with.
-
Sorry to bump an old thread but I can't figure out how to get anything to leech from me around here. Ok, I d/l'ed some files with no leechers but right now I have a file with 15 leechers and uTorrent keeps saying 0.0 uploading. I checked my settings, ran the Setup test, everything seems normal, but still nothing is uploading. Why??? Is it always so hard to keep a decent ratio on this site? It seems more trouble than it's worth right now….
-
That torrent you mention is a good example for torrents to avoid with ratio issues: torrents for multiple files, completed many times and nevertheless supposedly many leecher.
That torrent got 10 files:
2 Clips
2 Picture set archives (zip)
8 small pictures for previewThe peers which appear as leecher have chosen not to download all files and are actually seeding what they've selected and got. They just can't be shown as seeder, because hey haven't all files. None of them is downloading right now.
-
Yeesh. And of course every time I d/l something hoping it'll leech, my ratio gets worse. Something seems wrong with these rules when well-intentioned people can have such a hard time staying within bounds…
How bout somebody just point me to the "right" kind of torrent to get for this cuz I'm at a loss right now.

I just wanted to say thanks to you, Popper, for your helpful posts. As a newb to the site they have helped me work on my share ratio and understand how to download torrents more wisely. I definitely recommend following the advice to other new folks as well.
-
With time, i.e. higher absolute values of upload and download amounts, the share ratio stabalises. It will take longer to move significantly up and down.
If it is good enough to stay above the next higher Rationator minium ratio steps, you'll be able to download torrents which are less good for immediate ratio improvements.

I'm having the same 'not seeding' situation.. I completed download and left Transmission (on Mac pro) on for days.. When I check my seeding stats. the server says it is seeding, but i guess nobody is downloading.. I can leach and seed on any number of sights,,Anounamouse, Kickass Torrents, mac torrents, pirate bay, etc.
Any instructions for Transmission would be helpful..I couldn't find any.
thanx angelonyc

There are two reasons why you don't upload:
1/ The torrent you seed got no leecher (downloader) at the moment. Keep it seeding, in case someone starts downloading
2/ You are the only leecher on the torrent you download at the moment. Nobody to send the parts you've got alreadyIn addition your Transmission is reported as not connectible (read the earlier posts in this topic about what that means)
The trackers you name (those I know by name), are public tracker. they got much more user and because they haven't a ratio many peers leave after download. That makes seeding easy for those how stay.
To improve the connection of Transmission, make sure you've made an exception in your Mac's firewall for the port set for Transmission's connection and activate UPnP and NAT-PMT if that option exists. Sorry no Mac here, can't help you with step by step instructions.
