I am trying to round up the faces of the gay art I so fervently collect.  As I find more I will post them and at some point try to add their profile on here.  If you would like to add any artist please feel free to.  I'll start with…

      Tom Of Finland(Touko Laaksonen)

Interesting seeing the faces behind the famous names.

                                Logan Kowalsky

Usually known by just his first name, the famous French homoerotic artist Logan Kowalsky’s work stands apart from that of his contemporaries and inspiring influences largely due to his subjects. Perhaps it is because Logan seems to favor the broad-shouldered, heavy jawed, bulky, wrestler-like “Muscle Bear” types that he often deviates from the usual overly pretty manorexic glamor twinks seen featured in most of today’s homoerotic artworks and films. But he also goes beyond the Bear with highly sexualized images of character like wanton chubby, Benjamin Foley a.k.a. “Porky” – who stars in all 3 volumes of Porky from ClassComics. Of course regardless of body type, all his men sport the impossibly oversize meaty cocks we all love.

Like many of today’s comic artists, Logan Kowalsky grew up reading comic books. By the age of 12, the young Logan began “drawing his favorite superheros and knew almost immediately that he had found a love for something that went beyond adolescent fantasy. He knew then that he wanted to draw cartoons for the rest of his life.”

As a young fan, Logan studied the work of his favorite comic artists… such as Sal Buscema, Mike Mignola, Bruce Timm, John Byrne, (more recent favorites include: Stuart Immonen, Chris Sprouse and Naoki Urasawa). He taught himself to emulate a variety of styles, “learning from their shading and inking techniques and developing his own inspiration and ideas as his skills developed.”

Logan currently lives in Oissel, Normandy, France, where he pursues “his work, not for necessity, but because it is what he loves doing.” He spends all of his days occupied with drawing (and working one out every time he turns himself on with his art), storytelling and playing his electric guitar. In a recent interview with Jezza Smiles, he shared some interesting tidbuts, including: Logan is a top (but would gladly bend over for “Batman” or “a bunch of angry bikers”) who chooses Shape-Shifting over any other superpower. Logan’s Biggest Turn On is “Pig Squealing” and Biggest Turn Off is “Sexy Underwear.”

An openly gay man, Logan proudly proclaims on his website, “Those who know me can tell you..I’m a total sex maniac, and I’m proud of it!” He goes on to say that he loves to talk about sex and that fact should be very evident from the characters that he creates as most of them are manly, dominant and love cock. He says he can stop talking about sex if he is a really good boy, for about 15 minutes…about the time it takes him to give a really good blowjob.

Another hot and horny interview can be found here: hxxp://jezzasmilez.blogspot.com/2010/08/logan.html?zx=5b64174546d2361e

                                  GEORGE QUAINTANCE
Born in the village of Alma, Virginia, in 1902

At the age of eighteen, he moved to New York to study drawing and painting at the Art Students League. After graduation, he started to work for advertisement firms and as a portrait artist for affluent socialites. During the subsequent years, he became interested and also made a career in ballet, coiffure design, and photography.

The artist moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1948 to specialize in painting and photographing male athletes for popular physique magazines. In the early 1950s, he set up his own studio in Phoenix, Arizona, where he created the works of male figurative art he is best known for today.

                                          John Klamik aka Sean

                                          July 22, 1935 - January 5, 2005

John Klamik, artist and activist, succumbed to pneumonia on January 5, 2005 at West Anaheim Medical Center in Anaheim, California following a series of strokes and a diagnosis of lung cancer, listed as the official cause of death.

John was born on July 22, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, where he studied at the world-famous Art Institute. He moved to California in the mid ‘60s, settling in West Hollywood which, next to Chicago, was his favorite city in the world.

While working as an artist and Display Director for the Akron Stores, he combined two of his loves - art and activism - as the original editorial cartoonist “Buckshot” for the old Advocate.

During the next three decades, as “Shawn” he contributed mainstream cartoons to mainstream gay newspapers and magazines and, as “Sean,” to more specialized
gay publications - including Drummer, Bound & Gagged and Red Tails … created murals for such famous Hollywood sites as Manspace, Hollywood Spa and The Sewers of Paris, as well as for Leather bars in Los Angeles and San Francisco ... wrote and illustrated graphic novels ... and illustrated many books and short stories for such writers as Larry Townsend and R.F.M. (Roger Mays). Indeed, he worked until nearly the end, delivering his final illustrations the day before his first stroke.

He exhibited at the Tom of Finland Foundation art shows, and his original art is owned by collectors worldwide.

He was active in the fight for gay rights - picketing, sitting in and serving repeated terms on the Boards of Directors for the Los Angeles organizations The Kingmasters and Christopher Street West, the planning organization for Los Angeles’/West Hollywood’s annual Gay Pride Parade and Festival.

John was also a member of American Coaster Enthusiasts - ACER499 - and, last year, realized his lifelong dream of having finally ridden every roller coaster in America.

John loved all animals, especially cats, horror movies - he created the lobby poster for the 1987 film, Berserker!- gourmet cooking, helping his fellow man and watching the sunset while enjoying a perfect Manhattan.

He is survived by Jim Newberry, his companion of 40 years; his sisters, Dorothy Fay of Chicago and Louise Doty of Wayland, Michigan; and literally thousands of close friends and fans. John is mourned by all who knew him.
