Boy, 6, Stabbed in Neck at School Because He Likes Pink

A 6-year-old boy who had been bullied because he liked to wear pink was stabbed in the neck at his preschool in central Sweden, media reports said today.
The boy, identified only as Oskar, was picked on because he liked pink clothes, nail polish and ballet, Jönköpings-Posten newspaper said. He had complained to his parents that classmates taunted him, calling him "gay" and a "girl."
The newspaper said Oskar was stabbed in an incident last week at the school. The knife used in the attack was blunt and the boy was not seriously hurt, but he had a noticeable injury on his neck, Jönköpings-Posten said, according to The Local, which carries Swedish news in English.
Staff at the school reportedly described the matter as a "small incident," The Local said.
Oskar's parents told Jönköpings-Posten they had yanked their son from the school and filed a complaint with the government agency that oversees preschools.
"I don't want to have my child at a school which considers a stab with a knife to be a 'small incident,'" the boy's mother said.

I always thought the Scandinavian countries were so enlightened? What gives? Not only that, I have vague recollections of being 6 years old and I don't remember anyone ever being stabbed by fellow six year olds or even thinking to do such a thing at that age!

As "enlightened" as any country is, there's always a certain amount of stupidity that follows with it.

bullies are a force of nature in any school. there will always be kids who get their kicks from making a weaker person feel miserable.

I wonder if being stabbed to death would have been considered a major incident or just good riddance of a "future sinner" if it is a very homophobic region.
And all homophobes, at least in my country play the kids card. Like the kids psychic will be destroyed if he finds out that there are same sex couples or sees one. Or that it will turn them gay. So we need to protect the poor children. Off topic, with kids these days, we need protection from them.
What about gay children? Don't they need protection from violence? Don't the need to see that they aren't some freaks - that there are people like him.
