Creating and Uploading a Torrent with Transmission
-
[Remember the file has to be over 50MB in size….]
First in Transmission:
Choose the 'file' option and select "Create Torrent File", find your file (or folder) and select it –> In the Tracker field, put " http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru:80/announce.php " (without the quotes) --> Make sure "Private" is selected --> Choose the destination for the torrent to be saved --> click create.-
Point to remember: this .torrent file that you have just created is meant only for upload to the site in the initial stage so do NOT start it in your client.
Then here on the site:
Click the “Upload” option that you see on the blue menu bar at the top of any page –> after reading the rules on that page click “I have read an understand” to continue --> now select the category, add your pictures {[desc=a few pointers on making the screen-cap pictures is given below at the end of the guide]put atleast one picture that is related to the torrent[/desc]}, fill in the description, and lastly choose the torrent file that you just made, from your hard drive and “Do it”- Now you will be diverted to the torrent page. Here you click the “Download” button on the top right near the name and download the .torrent file.
Finally, again in Transmission:
Stat the torrent (that you just downloaded) and make sure Transmission recognizes your video file.
If it does not then go to 'Preferences' before hand and 'check that Transmission ask where to put downloaded files' so that you can select the right folder, after you select the folder it will realize it already has the file and the bar will load yellow [showing that its checking the file] then turns green [showing that its seeding]- Keep this torrent active in your client (ie leave it seeding) even though it might not upload and nothing will happen. Your torrent will have to be ‘approved’ by a moderator and then it will go live, but in order for it to be approved it needs to be kept seeding.
Once approved and it goes live, people will start to download it now you need to keep it seeding till about 4 to 5 other seeders are present….
And viola there you have it
Also please remember to read through the rules regarding what can and can’t be uploaded, what is banned, etc. so that you don’t break any rules. Take a look at this thread as well DO NOT request or upload these videos

Now regarding the 'Pictures' for your torrent:
First off remember that the more pictures you add the better it is because that way users can see what they are going to get and gives more of an incentive to download your torrentfor making the screen-caps you can use Screen Grabber 2.0.2 along with Perian. (Perian is a codec pack which you can get at hxxp://www.perian.org/)

Nice guide aaliass, I'm sure some Transmission users will appreciate this.
I hope you don't mind but I'd like to add a couple things that I feel can help.
Under the step "First in Transmission:": while creating your .torrent file, be sure that "Open when created" is NOT checked before clicking on Create. Otherwise, as aaliass pointed out, you will be seeding using the wrong torrent file because your original .torrent file is only meant to be used to upload to the server during the creation of your download page, use the .torrent file downloaded from the website to seed your torrent.
Here's what to do if the file wasn't in the proper folder beforehand and it doesn't start seeding;
Right-click on the torrent and "Pause Selected"–>Highlight the downloading torrent-->Go to File in the menu bar-->Move Data File To...-->
Browse to the location of the full file (not the .torrent file) and click OK. Now with the torrent still highlighted go to Transfers in the menu bar-->Verify Local Data-->Transmission will run a check on the file-->Right-click-->"Resume Selected" and it should now start seeding if the results of the check were 100%.Here's another way to do it;
Click the download button on your uploads download page, a window will pop-up asking if you want to Open the file or Save it, click on Open with [transmission.app]. Now Transmission will pop-up another window, at the top of that window you should verify that the "Download to:" folder matches the location of the data file (full movie, not the .torrent file), click "Browse" and navigate to the proper location where the full file exists if it doesn't match. Another way to check if it's in the proper location is to click on "Verify Local Data" at the bottom of that window, if Transmission begins a check on the file and the result is 100% then all is well, just click the Add button and let your torrent seed.
Transmission will not do anything at all if you press the "Verify Local Data" button with the file in the wrong folder, it will not perform any checks. -
thanks trukr
i myself am not a Mac user but i thought this guide should go up since there isn't one and i know what it was like being a newbie lol…
so, thanks for the input ;D -
Hi - this is probably a really stupid question but I've been banned from downloading, so when I try to upload in Transmission, it won't let me because it says my download rights have been taken. How do I get around this so I can start downloading again?
-
Well, you can't download from other members data (movies, music, pictures …) but even with suspended download rights, you can still download from GayTorrent.ru the small .torrent files of the completed downloads or own uploaded torrents listed in tour Profile.
The trick is to let Transmission "know" where you've got the data files.
Two basic was:
a) You place the data (movie, …) into Transmissions download folder
b) You change the download target location to your dat file's locationYou may need to make a re-check.
When Transmission finds the data, it will not download, but check and if 100% matching, start the seeding (upload).

This guide could be adapted for transmission on linux. The options are not exactly the same which might confuse some users.
