Pirate Bay Stopped - How Safe GayTorrent?
-
I had over 5,000 gay torrents on PB - many of GT's members downloaded and made new torrents here. I receive a majority directly from gay adult producers with their blessing as it results in free publicity for their sites. When I go through the GayTorrent.ru directories I see many torrents that came directly from me via PB. Now, without PB the gay community's access to gay male torrents is even more limited. Makes a big difference when you upload a gay torrent to PB and see 100 leechers per hour and thousands of downloads over a short period.
Don't get me wrong, I love GayTorrent.ru - there is no other site with such a varied library, but the movie industry is putting tremendous pressure on The Netherlands, Sweden, England and much of Europe to close down all torrent sites including adult sites. Gay people are not loved despite what the most ardent fans believe.
My displeasure of uploading my gay torrents here had to do with review and lag time, difficulty with moderators. There was none of that with PB. Torrents go up nearly instantly and if the torrent wasn't wanted it was simply removed by a moderator, no "here, is this okay?" and "when are you going to put it up?" kinds of things. I pay a lot of money for a very highspeed upload pipeline to ensure my torrents are fed quickly and efficiently. I have uploaded to the predominately hetero adult torrent sites ( Puretna, Pussy Torrents, PornBits, Bootytorrents, Sexybits, XXXTorrents, Torrent69, AdultTorrent, NuTorrents, etc) but many of thse sites pay lipservice to gay male adult material - altho they love lesbian torrents, even offer full directories but gay male stuff? Not so much. What is sadder is that few gay men visit those sites to pick up the gay torrents so they end up dying a slow death.
Questions: How safe is GayTorrent.ru now that the largest Torrent site is out of commission? How safe is my static IP and my personal information? How safe are GT.ru's logs? How safe is the (sole) tracker?

Gaytorrent.ru is pretty safe. As far as the review and lag time, difficulty with moderators it will always be that way. We strive to minimize duplicates and ensure we are not allowing material that is banned suchas underage porn. We also have to ensure we are allowing pictures to be posted from some studios that have a problem with it. None of the moderator get paid to help on this tracker. If the upload process is unpleasnt for you then upload 10 or more clean torrents that don't require moderator help and I will give you Auto Approval status. That means no Mod "watching" during you initial upload. We check all torrents, but AA users torrents post with no intervention. Your personal info will never be released. We are not the sole gay tracker either. Each member is responsible for their own info on here. I would bet 90% of the members don't use their real names and use a second private email account. TPB always bounces back. Take care.

You should be using a Virtual Private Network (VPN), hudson.
The question is NOT how safe gaytorrents.ru may be. It is "How safe is the Internet?" And the answer is, "not very safe."
Your ISP can monitor your torrent traffic and peek into the packets you are uploading and downloading. They can keep track of what movie titles you are uploading and downloading, if they choose. If they have been alerted to look for certain titles, sharing those titles via torrents could trigger notification of organizations like the RIAA of your activity. Normally, ISPs will not share such information without a court order. But it is not inconceivable that organizations like the RIAA and the MPAA may some day obtain court orders or succeed with legislative efforts to force ISPs to screen all of their traffic for sharing of virtually any copyrighted material.
Your ISP will always know exactly who you are, and they can share information regarding your Internet activity with anyone they choose to share it with. It has nothing to do with the diligence of any particular torrent site in attempting to preserve your anonymity.
Your best protection is to use a VPN. Under such circumstances, the information in the packets is encrypted between you and the provider of the VPN service. Your ISP can still peek into the packets, but won't be able to read anything there. All that your ISP would be able to determine is that you are communicating with a VPN provider. Your ISP will not be able to determine what information is being exchanged. Only your VPN service and you will have knowledge of your Internet activities.
Even this is not foolproof. The VPN service itself can be ordered by a court to hand over information regarding your Internet surfing (including torrent) activity. However, if you utilize a VPN provider in a country other than your own, the legal barriers presented to organizations like the RIAA for obtaining your private information become substantial.
Look into hxxps://www.relakks.com. Relakks is an inexpensive VPN service based in Sweden.

Please remember that The Pirate Bay is a SWEDISH website.
SWEDISH police raided and prosecuted The Pirate Bay.
A SWEDISH court ordered the upstream provider Black Internet to block traffic to the site -
And TPB returned later that day (or the following day).
The difference between us and TPB is that we're a closed, members only site, while TPB is open for everyone and no review of torrents is done (which is why they appear almost at once, on the other hand the staff might remove them later if they're reported).

Also remember the record industry and the movie industry are the main people behind the lawsuits that bring down places like the Pirate Bay and other sites.
Adult videos do not have the same deep pockets as movie studios and record companies and the RIAA. So you're less likely to get caught. Remember the RIAA was going after individual users who were uploading (of course downloading is still as wrong legally).
