Slooow upload :(

Sooooo.. since I rarely post here I figured I would go ahead and start..
First off let me start by saying I miss my old ISP lol..
Ok so question, is there any way to help improve my upload speed? The plan I am on with my current ISP allows me an unlimited download/upload speed, basically what ever I can hit is what I get lol.. Right now my download speed hits anywhere between 500KBps-1.5MBps, about half of my old provider.. however my old provider maxed out at 125KBps for upload and the one I have now can barely hit 25KBps.. I have a Belkin Wireless N Gigabit router so I know it's not that, I can transfer files between computers over the network at blistering speeds.. Just wondering if there is anything I can do about upload speeds, I'm tempted to call and ask them..
But anyways, thought's, advice, etc all welcome

Doesn't sounds like your new provider gif you unlimited speed. The Up-/Dowloadspeed you telling, is it only on torrent or on normal Browser Downloads too?

I would try a speed test first. Sites like speedtest.net will test your upload and download speed and even allow you to save the results via a weblink. Â You should not be downloading or seeding anything when you run a speed test to get the most accurate result.
If it is just when you are seeding torrents that you are having this problem, it could be one of two things.

Your settings in uTorrent may need to be adjusted.

Your isp is "capping" your torrent traffic.
Hope this will help get you started. Good luck.

Hi,
Also check with your provider what your upload limit is. It may be different to your old provider.
Here in the UK it is quite common for a 512kbps upload limit (64KB/s) while my provider offers up to 2.5mbps upload (306KB/s). They measure speeds in kilobits-per-second, whereas in Torrent applications, we see KiloBytes-per-second.
Also, if this is a DSL connection, your modem may not be synchronising at a high upload. While my provider offers 2.5mbps upload, my modem syncs at around 900kbps upload.
Hope this makes sense!

A couple things, I'm not aware of any ISP that has unlimited ul/dl speeds What they probably mean is unlimited (to a point in most cases) ul/dl volume. You never mentioned what tech it's being serviced over, DSL/Cable/Fiber/Ethernet etc. That can have an impact. Also, WiFi can degrade bittorrent traffic - go wired if you can. Also, check what you're paying for. 3Mb/s, 10Mb/s etc - Note: that's megabits per second not megabytes. They're totally different animals…

Even here, the term "unlimited" only refers to the time spent on the internet, as well as the total amount of data uploaded or downloaded in a month. Despite the total upload and download amounts combined being unlimited, almost every provider will have a maximum speed that you can reach in a 1 second interval… In short, that's where they get you with their "limits" on an "unlimited" internet connection usually.
