I just started seeding a torrent right now. It seeded fine at the start but then suddenly the actual uploading stopped, as in zero in upload speed after an hour and the number of leechers never decreased. What's happening?

Like it's got a nice upload speed at the start so some leechers were downloading already but then upload speed suddenly went to zero as if it stopped but the leechers never left.

@ytutambien did you notice the number of seeders increasing?

When you first upload a torrent, you're the only one with the files, so regardless of how many people start the download, they can only download from you. This means that you will always seed 100% of the torrent size.

You might think that you are serving 100% to one person, and then to another, and another, but that's not how it works.

Let's say there are 4 leechers connected. You will send different chunks to each one of them. One will get the first 25% of the torrent. The other will get another 25%, and so on. This ensures that more people will be able to seed the torrent in a shorter time, regardless of you being available or not.

So after each of them get 25%, you will have shared 100% of the torrent size, and the other leechers will now start to exchange chunks among themselves instead of from you.

This is an attempt to balance the ratio so that everyone in the swarm can have a positive ratio.

@ianfontinell-0 I meant I was the ORIGINAL and first uploader of the file so I wouldn't expect the number of seeder to increase while no one has finished leeching it yet. My problem was the sudden drop to zero of upload speed during the initial seeding despite the leechers never leaving.

Like at the start I was getting around 3-4MB/s upload speed during my initial seeding then it suddenly became 0 and never increased again after hours. The leechers were still there.

This is also the torrent that the pictures were uploaded in reverse. I just deleted the torrent altogether and will just reupload later then I'll see what happens.
