      Hello,
I have only downloaded part of the files from a number of torrents. I unchecked them in the torrent list because I'm not interested in them. In qBittorrent, these torrents also have the status Completed. But on this site they are listed as 'Leeching'. This adversely affects my limit of the maximum number of torrents that can be downloaded at one time. I have not reached that limit at all if you do not include these torrents.

      What's going wrong?

@yepyep7891 ... As part of completion upon downloading it must be 100% , wc means all contents of a package [folder] weather you like it or not, you need to download ...
A selected part of torrent indicates completed from your clients but it will indicate as partial download ...

As part of your status here :
Torrent that is fully downloaded indicates up arrow [seeding/snatched]
        seeding (1).jpg
Torrent that is partial seeding indicates down arrow leeching] ...
        seeding (2).jpg
        status.jpg ...
        Torrents.jpg

Now if leeching while seeding bothers you, simply stop the torrent [to free slot] and leeching status will be cleared in your profile ...
Some torrent will take 1 hr or half hr to update ...

          Nothing ...
You need to download the whole part ...
This will stop you from leeching ...
or stop the leeching torrent ...

            Hello John,

Thank you for your reply. Does this work the way you describe because it's technically impossible to do it any other way?

My torrent client indicates that the torrent is 'seeding' and 100% completed. So why is gaytorrent just not picking up on this signal?

There are several reasons for not wanting to download a torrent completely and that is even more the case when it comes to huge torrents. But I also do this for another reason. I compare the different files with AllDup. I delete the files that have been downloaded twice (in different torrents) and then I uncheck these duplicate files so that they will not be downloaded again.

It is such a pity that this is not quite possible at the moment.

All torrent sites that I am aware of work this way.

I think the reason is that they can't really tell that you have selected only some of the files - that's controlled by your client only.

                @yepyep7891 as I've said a 100% all parts/fully downloaded - you are a seeder and uploader ...
while selected parts only [your client indicates 100% completed of the file you selected]
and indicates you as a leecher because you didn't completed the whole torrent parts ...
you are a part of seeder and a leecher because you are sharing the parts ...
otherwise you are still downloading ...

                  Torrenting :

                  • Seeder ...
People who have the entire torrent file on their computer are referred to as seeders. Having downloaded the file already, these users are uploading pieces of the file to help other users (leechers) download it.

                  • Leecher ...
is anyone who is part of the swarm but has not finished downloading the torrent 100%. This means that anyone who only wants 60% of a torrent and wants to support the swarm with that 60% will still be classified as a leecher.

Torrents are splitted into small pieces called, well, pieces. To tracker exchanges information about pieces you have versus pieces you don't. When you have nothing, you'll be fed with whatever pieces are available at a moment. If you don't have all pieces, you will be counted as a leecher for as long as that torrent is active in your client.

This is not exactly a limitation, having SOME of the content available doesn't make you a seeder, because peers might connect to you looking for pieces you don't have.
