Short introduction to our online IRC chat
-
A first remark: all who are acquainted with IRC (Internet Relay Chat see also Wikipedia hXXp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Relay_Chat) should have no problems to reach our chat or using our Java chat client or your own IRC chat client. You can skip these short introductions - but please read the last paragraph of this posting!
If you want to use our Java chat client: you must have installed Java Runtime Environment (JRE) on your computer as our client is a Java application.
After that is installed: the first time you'll use our chat the chat client has to be installed, you will automatically be asked to install the client, please do so.
First a few explanations for java chat. On the bottom of that chat windows there are two rows
public > #gaytorrent.ru
private > StatusThe two boxes show the chat rooms, you are currently logged in. The public row shows all the public chatrooms you have currently open and where yor are able to chat with our operators or other users. The private row shows all the private rooms you have open and do a one-to-one chat, in which only you and your chatpartner can write and read, no one else can. BTW: all those buttons become red if there is activity in that room.
Currently we have several chat rooms installed:
#Gaytorrent.ru
This is our main channel, language english only. The channel's main intention is a support channel where you can ask questions. You can reach this chat room via the Chat button in the blue menue bar on top of every page. If you try the chat for the first time, you have to use this button so the chat client can be installed on your computer.#darkroom
The name needs only an explanation for members who never have visited a darkroom in real life: This is a chat room intended more for chit chat and also sex-chat. Please don't ask support questions here - try support topics in channel #gaytorrent.ru first. This channel can be reached via the menu button Darkroom, also in the blue menu bar.The following chat rooms are intended are for our non English speaking members:
#deutsch (main language German)
#greek (main language Greece)
#chinese (main language Chinese)
#gaymalaysian (main language Malay)
#russian (main language Russian)
#swedish (main language Swedish)
#french (main language French)If there is a operator present in one of the above language specific rooms also English is allowed in those rooms. Just keep in mind these rooms are intended for their main languages
You can not reach these chat rooms directly by a menu command, instead in the text entry box enter a command to enter a special channel:To enter the channel #greek type in the text box (where you usually enter your chat message):
/join #greek
a new box in the "public" row will open and the main chat window will show the chat in that chat room. You can switch between different chat rooms by clicking the respective box in the bottom rows (public and/or private)To use the chat most effectively and get your questions answered in a timely manner please read our IRC-channel rules before entering the chat. You find them either by clicking the chat button in the top menu bar and click on the link to our IRC-channel rules or use the link in this posting. You can among important rules also find helpful hints for often used abbreviations in chat.

A common problem seems to occur more frequently with our Java IRC client.
The applet needs permission to access your internet connection to communicate with our IRC server. That causes the [desc=Java runtime environment]JRE[/desc] to alert you that this application needs rights that could possibly threaten your system.
The text in that window is written as block this application (recommended) and the active answer button is "Yes".
I can assure that this applet is permanently checked on our server by a couple of malware check-programs - so there is no risk to damage your system by this Java application. BTW: this program is the most used client on our IRC server and I have never heard a complaint about anything bad with this applet.
So: you can (and have to) click on "NO" for not blocking the application to enter our chat.

Hi mgr. Thanks for a great site.
So you know I tried chat yesterday, said "no" to the popup and ended up with just a black screen. No sign of errors after leaving it for many minutes. Can't right-click in the black area.
I just tried it again now too with the same result. Using Java version 6 Update 22 and Firefox 4 Beta 8 on W7 X64.

Never had problems with the chat feature… only that at the time i went into chat nobody was paying attention to the chat window hehehe

Hi elektrotek
Maybe the following link could help you, Mgr explained with pics what had to be done, Tiptoe didn't follow his instructions and couldn't enter the chatroom because he answered "No" to the 1st warning, instead of answering "No" to the 2nd warning.
After this mistake, Tiptoe couldn't enter the chatroom anymore, no matter how many times he tried (it's your case now) . The solution was to uninstall Java, then reinstall it, answering "Yes" to the 1st warning, then "No" to the 2nd warning…and all went fine.
-
…because they answered "No" to the 1st warning, instead of answering "No" to the 2nd warning.
No, no, that's wrong and I can't edit :cry2:
- 1st warning : answer YES
- 2nd warning : answer NO
Mgr is sure wondering why he prepared pics and we didn't follow his instructions
-
Thanks for the tips blackdid. I only got the one yes/no prompt (about blocking) which is similar to mgr's screenshots at http://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=13531.msg58077#msg58077 … no bother, I can install mIRC and use it that way. Thanks again!

I have to apologize now - sorry for my missing picture about the first security question
As an excuse I can only say: that security question (expired certificate IIRC) was (some months ago) shown every time when the applet was loaded - now in one of the last updates they obviously remember you answer for the future because that question doesn't show up any longer (might also be the cause is upgrading Opera to Version 11).
Bottom line: this (former) annoying security warning has silently gone

Thank You for the Chat Link.

Very interested in entering the irc chatrooms but when I type in the server and channel it never seems to connect.
I'm using this for server: irc://irc.gaytorrent.ru:6667/Gaytorrent.ru
I'm using port 6697 as shown on the chat instruction page
I've tried switching SSL connection on and off to no avail…I can't seem to get the Java client to run on my macbook in Safari or chrome
so... what gives? Am I doing something wrong?
I don't really use irc, I've only used once many years ago so I'd appreciate the help getting into that chatroom.

Im totally confused. How do I join this chat thing?
