Why do the porn companies keep some scenes for themselves?
-
It really bothers me when images are released as part of the promotion and then the actual doesn't actually contain those scenes or changes some stuff from it.. I can come up with several occasions where this has been done in the last years and it's very annoying specially when they tease us with something great and then we end up with a half-assed final result that doesn't make justice to what was promised in the first place..

Maybe they plan on releasing it latter on. Treasure Island Media has done that… they have released a film with several old never-released tapes.
-
That does not necessarily mean there are unreleased scenes. It could just be because the still photographer positioned or grouped the models differently than the video director.

Can't say this necessarily falls into the same topic, yet in the same general concept.
Machofucker - which took me MONTHS to compile their entire catalog (to the best of my ability) is very guilty of that.
They'll release a scene - then a year later, release the same scene under a different title but with a different edit
I lost count how many scenes they have released where there are two versions of the same fuck session - and in one case THREE different versions. Quite maddening.
But as someone said above, I constantly see pics on here actually that are promo shots from sex scenes that are better than the actual scenes - plus the photographer usually has different angles than the camera. so I'm not sure that it's always "keeping it for themselves"

I just downloaded "Stas Landon & Sean Xavier" and again parts of scenes are missing.. this happens very often with Lucas Entertainment videos.. the pictures show Stas Landon getting fucked missionary position which is incredibly hot :bj2:, yet this was cut completely.. the cum kiss was removed too.. and by the end of the video only Sean Xavier blew his load.. thank you, Steven Maverick and Michael Lucas. ::)

Like someone said, they are most likely staged shots for promo pics and not actually stills from the scene.
What I would like to see is those BTS vids where they shoot those promo pics. I find it more hot because it's more "real" than the scene itself. You get to see the guys working out of character. -

I've never heard of a studio doing. Pretty low rent

I think it all has to do with contracts between the companies. Actors. And ones that are filming. Also they have been known to sell it another way.

I've seen stills of a sex scene in Arcade on Route 9 with Matthew Matters and Brett Anderson that they've never released. It annoys me when Daddy/Son fantasy videos don't have Daddy/Son scene.
