Programs to Compress Videos to Save File Size

Hi everyone,
I'm noticing my Synology NAS storage is getting smaller and swapping for larger drives is more costly than I want. I'd like to see if the community has recommendations for which programs/applications that can be used to compress videos effectively. I used to have one on my last desktop but that hard drive crashed and I can't remember what it was called.
I'm using Windows 11 Home Professional. Ideally, I don't want to pay for it or hopefully it would be affordable. I know there have to some great options out there, but I was hoping the experts here had some ideas.
Once I find a solution, what recommended file types and settings are best recommended to not lose too much (or any) quality but allow me to save some file size?

There are bunch of free software to Compress Videos to Save File Size, if you do a web-search ...
search > [programs to compress videos to save file size to computer] w/o Losing Quality ...
However in effect it is not as always in good result if the quality is reduce in small size [original format is better] ...
Your best option is to search external HDD drives for desktop/laptop ... a lot cheaper for back-up and put them in a safety place to avoid damage ...
I have 6 external USB slim drive 3 tb each for over 10 years w/o any problem ... -
@driftwood714 for starters I recommend wondershare uniconverter.
It's paid, but you can find it in any torrent site like 1337x or rutracker. It has a super easy to use interface, allows you to trim the videos if neccessary, and most importantly it's compatible with a lot of formats.
If you have a modern CPU/GPU you can use HEVC as your desired output format, as HEVC needs less bitrate to achieve a decent image, you can cut the size of your H264 videos in half using HEVC. Just bear in mind that different resolutions will always need more bitrate to preserve the quality.
If you need to reduce sizes too drastically you can also reduce the video resolution.
