Do you wait with the cooking till you're too hungry to prepare a good meal?

I just cooked lunch and as usual I waited too long, esp. since I skipped the breakfast.
I started too peel the potatoes when I was already hungry, knowing that it would take another 40 min till they are ready.And I sometimes make mistakes then or don't pay attention enough or can't find the stuff. Well, I could eat a piece of bread for the blood-sugar but then I could do that in the first place and don't cook at all.
Anyway, I noticed in the end that out of pure automatism I prepared one part of the dish twice.
Or maybe I should check for Alzheimers?

I used to fall into that same trap all the time. What I finally did was to prep a batch of food good for a couple of days and I could just reheat it when I get hungry.
Either that or have some fruit to keep hunger in check until I can finish cooking.Â

Lol, yes, part of the dish will go into the freezer and I too learn… a bit... sometimes I peel the potatoes the day before.
And I do a lot of "freezer-cooking", noodle stuff. Eat one portion, put one in the fridge and 10 in the freezer. Myparents did and do that a lot and I took over the habit.

I never cook any main meal without having enough for a meal the next day and portions for the freezer, whether it be roast dinners, stews, casseroles or pasta sauces.
I tried to persuade a friend to try this but he would rather take a complete joint out of his freezer, roast and then eat it for days on end.
In my experience everything can be frozen… it's just that some things are crap afterwardsÂ

There are a lot of urban myths about freezing and/or microwaves etc. I also have a friend who was very afraid of microwaves and all the damage they do but he is a bit like those people who told you in 1982 "Don't buy CDs, they only last 3 years".
Of course there might a loss in nutritional value of this or that when you freeze but then again you can still prepare those things freshly but still don't have to stand in the kitchen for an hour.
My today's potatoes… one portion will be warmed up once more tonight and with the rest I'll make fried potatoes tomorrow, which taste better anyway that way. Most of fhe roast will go into the freezer.

Can't fault any of that.
Bought meal says 'do not refreeze'. I ask why not!
And always good to have a variety of potatoes in the freezer.
