There is a glaring problem with studies in the current year.

Studies that don't meet the liberal agenda have to be scrubbed from existence. We have talked about some of these in the Politics section. The studies are deemed factual, but "offensive", so they had to go.

I'm not saying this study is wrong, but with the academic climate, we can't be sure. We do know we won't see a study that conflicts with this since it doesn't fit the liberal narrative.

This is the kind of "science" that doesn't reflect well on better scientific minds.

Socially predominant mores shift over generations. The leading IQs of the 1950s would have found it quite easy to be homophobic, and probably were.

I am sure the researchers behind the study did not intend for their audience to go about and call anyone exhibiting any sort of homophobia "stupid".

Trust me, in my own personal thoughts and private discussions I will often call homophobes stupid (or worse obviously), but what I do in my personal discourse is completely separate to what sort of discourse an actual study aims to initiate, even in the possibility that the authors are biased on the subject and/or the actual findings are debatable.

Plus, it will be interesting to see how they define homophobia and which instances of homophobia they include in their conclusions.

Upon reflection, am reminded that some of the phobic attitudes and actions come from those who have not started or progressed onto their own journey towards recognizing or accepting themselves.

As for those that identify as straight, perhaps it could be considered less than intelligent to be against those who are not straight as they end up with less competition for what and who they desire.

Part of my journey more than once included observing the change in phobic family members when some of their children turned out to be more important than their phobias.

For a lot of cases that is true. However I also see that homophobic (and in general bigoted views and behavior) seem to increase as people's own problems increase. Its like a trigger to turn against others (usually the ones who are physically, socially, emotionally less powerful) in order to feel powerful and forget one's own problems or vent for them.

This could show issues with emotional awareness and possibly issues with what is considered traditional upbringing for most people.

The last bit you mentioned is always very heart warming.

A friend of mine recently came out to his parents at the age of 40+ (which means his parents are way over 60), it went surprisingly well and it was an opportunity for them as a family to talk sincerely about how they feel in general, which goes to show how being open to someone about being gay is working towards openness in general. Something I am guessing a lot of people find difficult, whether they are gay, straight, trans etc.

People who go to college tend to get indoctrinated into liberalism, by their leftist professors.

You see it with YouTubers, such as Hunter Avalone and Nate Talks To You. Both were conservatives but became liberals while in college. Not surprisingly, but became low information people, like they used to ridicule.

Universities are scrubbing "problematic" but totally valid studies so they don't cause offense.

We are seeing confirmation bias in these studies due to the banning of studies that go against liberal dogma.

Went to look for a more clear simple unbiased explanation of being a liberal vs being a conservative.

Not wanting to turn this into a topic that needs to be moved to Politics & Debate.

Edit to add that my UK-born partner pointed out that political labels or classifications do not necessarily apply the same way in different countries, or even in different parts of a country. So do want to add that the above is in regards to mostly USA and not the world over.

Edit to add another reason. I can't be the only one that has sometimes been confused by the terms used to describe liberals or other affiliations.

There are people from all over the world that have access to view or read these boards, and it is likely they are not exactly being correctly informed by what they read here.

For example, someone may say that liberals are horrible.

Some of those that view this:

may say that is horrible also.

Then the process might lead to thinking that Trump is liberal.

Not everyone communicates or thinks the same way.

That article isn't very good.

It says that being scared makes you a conservative and feeling safe makes you a liberal.

Let's not forget that liberals claim that words are violence, that allowing a conservative to live threatens their own life, and much, much more.

They did get 1 thing exactly right, as southern California shows. Seeing shit, piss, vomit and the like don't bother liberals, as much as it does conservatives. That is unless someone does it in front of one of Pelosi's many houses.

BTW, that Trump thing wasn't a direct attack on that specific reporter, but on how the left goes spastic about everything Trump does.

And, YES, western Europe tends to be more left leaning than the US.

Like in the UK, Scotland still has "council house for life and beyond" where you can leave your welfare housing in your will. England and Wales got rid of that (except those grandfathered in) about 5 years ago. No idea about Northern Ireland.

Once you are in welfare housing, you could never be kicked out. Your max rent is capped at 60% market value, but can't go up once you are in, regardless of how wealthy you become, ie winning the lottery or starting your own business that's worth more than £100m.

People in welfare housing believe that their home belongs to them in the same way that homeowners do, except welfare housing is at best low rent or free rentals.
