Some people affirm that 1 of each 10 friends is gay, do you think this is true?
-
Who says that one of ten friends is gay?
It sounds like an even more misunderstood version of a finding from Kinsey. He found that in a particular period of time 10% of the male subjects had had exclusively male to male sexual activity over a period of 3 years. Kinsey wanted to repeat this survey each decade to find if the ratios of same-sex vs opposite sex encounters changed over time.
Kinsey point blank refused to talk about something as undefined as Sexual Orientation. He strictly looked at sexual behavior.
There has never been a time when 10% of the male population have identified as "gay".
A group of friends is not a random selection of the population. Gay men socialize with other gay men.

Never heard of this. 1 of ten men is yes

Tbh the “1 out of 10 people are gay” accusations don’t seem to be true. However, that doesn’t stop people from stating that as fact when talking about sexuality.
Sexuality is fluid, sure, but it’s also extremely complex. We simply don’t know enough about human sexuality to conclude that 10% of the population is indeed gay. If scientists study more on human sexuality and perform actual tests maybe we’ll get a better idea of the overall population that’s gay. Most surveys on this subject depend on people giving trustworthy answers to questions and we all know a lot of people aren’t completely honest with their answers on such a sensitive topic.

To add to that…
"Gay" is not a scientific term. You can distinguish between ABO bloodtypes with a test. You can consistently measure Ph with a test. But sexual orientation?
One guy might describe himself as 'Gay' without ever having had sex with a man. Another guy could have frequent sex with men and say he's Straight. A third guy could say his culture doesn't use that word. Another guy could say he's a pre-op Transwoman. A woman could say she's a pre-op Gay Man.
Even if you clear gender out of the way; Gay men aren't all equally attracted to the same type of men. Someone could be attracted only to Muscle Bears and have zero attraction to Twinks. Is he the same 'sexual orientation' as someone who is only attracted to Twinks? I've had friends where we were NEVER attracted to the same guy.
A piece of litmus paper doesn't react to certain types of acid but not others on a near random basis.
