What are your thoughts on Love Simon?
-
Okay. holy shit. It's a love hate with this movie, and novel.
I like the storyline and everything, but like why was I still dissatisfied with the end. -
I just watched the movie yesterday and have not read the book. I liked the movie, it was funny at times, cute too and I liked Simon and his friends. I just wish the final reveal would not have been at the end of the movie, because I would have liked to see more of Simon in a relationship.

I liked the concept of the movie but it like felt like something was missing? ? I'm not sure maybe I'm just not into the storyline or even the way the movie ended…like they should maybe do a sequel  So we can see like the "love story vibe" I was wanting to feel.
This movie made mystery boy a mystery for too long lol…I see like. the point of this movie was to focus on Simon and his story and everything, but I feel this movie could have been made a bit better.
Either way I really wanna see how true the movie is to the book so I bought it amazon. I was like lmaoo the book title tho. it's actually funny. Imagine if they named the movie the book title haha.
If you haven't read the book yet either you can like order it on amazon for 8 dollars lol I got that amazon prime so it got here fast :cheesy2: https://amzn.to/2KPVr74 Did you guys read the book, or audio book?
I was gonna buy the audio book, but I honestly prefer reading plus I kinda like collection cute gay novels. -
It's a common problem for gay movies not to have an ending that works.
At least now we have more movies where the gay character is still alive at the end. -
I loved the movie. Did I think it was a masterpiece of cinema no, but it wasn't trying to be. It was an enjoyable teen film and I think it was huge in terms of gay representation in cinema because it shows the world that not every gay movie has to be a tragedy to be a success.

Haven't read it , starting to soon

I tried reading the book.
I can think of books I've enjoyed written from the point of view of an extremely unlikeable character. But there has to be some acknowledgement that the character is unlikeable. If people have been watching The Good Place you can see how a thoroughly self-absorbed and indecisive character like Chibi can be interesting providing he's called on his bullshit.
Unlike Elio in "Call Me By Your Name", Simon seems oblivious to how mesed-up/annoying he is. everything is someone else's fault. I think the book convinced me not to see the movie.

It's literally the best. By far the most accurate gay movie ever. :bpr:

It was a really nice movie. Could it have been a little better? For sure!
The ending was definitely a little unrealistic. The likelihood of something like that happening sets unreal expectations for youth.
Definitely going to try and read the book.

it's a typical mass consumer media product, and therefore, it sucks. it felt like a major cringefest from top to bottom. 0/10.
