A high school student from North Carolina accused of “catfishing” her teacher on Grindr and then sharing his nude photos with classmates has been found not guilty.

According to the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office, 16-year-old Brittney Renee Luckenbaugh and her friend, Brian Joshua Anderson, obtained the teacher’s picture after misrepresenting themselves on Grindr.

Luckenbaugh created a fake profile pretending to be a 19-year-old man. Then she looked for her French teacher on Grindr. Upon discovering him, she struck up a conversation. The chatted a bit before moving over the Snapchat.

After getting the teacher to send her three naughty photos of himself, Luckenbaugh forwarded the images to Anderson, who then shared it with five other students.

As a result, the teacher was suspended without pay then reassigned to another school where, he says, “the only way to communicate with a student was through a camera.”

During testimony, he called the entire situation “very distressing.”

To add insult to injury, the teacher was then forced defend his use of the app to the court.

“Grindr is a dating site and a hook up site,” he testified. “I was using it for more than a hook up site. I’m too old to play. I was looking for more than that.”

Lawyer Matt Silva, who represented Luckenbaugh, said the state couldn’t prove she intended to humiliate her teacher. He also argued that the man didn’t have a right to privacy after sending images to a stranger.

In the end, the judge sided with Luckenbaugh, who broke down sobbing on her mother’s shoulder after hearing the not guilty verdict.

Afterwards, Silva told media, “There are no winners in this situation. My client did not intend to have those pictures circulated around the school and we hope everyone can move on past this horrible situation.”

I bet if this happened to a female teacher, the results would have be different.  At the very least, the teacher would not have to defend the use of a "dating" app.

If he was female or heterosexual, the court's decision would have gone the other way. Heteros tell us how "equal" we are, but their actions sure prove quite the opposite.

I'm not so sure about that.  America has a very puritanical streak. I think ANY teacher who shared "dirty" pictures online would be in a bad position, with people saying "think of the children!," and "we can't have this sicko around our kids." Maybe a boy would be punished more for tricking a female teacher, but she would still be moved / fired, and called a slut.

It also goes to show, you never know who is on the other end of the internet. Privacy is a myth; always act like you can be found out, so be careful.

I agree on so many levels. Guys don't understand why I don't want to send nudes until after meeting them in person, or really getting to know them. Well…. I guess they could just send them to anyone, but I want a little bit of...trust or something established first.

Men are automatically treated as pedos.

Go sit in the park and see what happens.  You will either have the police called on you or the mob will chase you out with their pitch forks and torchs, like you were Frankenstein's monster.    Women don't face this.

It was only a decade or so ago (Tony Blair) that the UK government admitted that women can be child molesters, but it was after a bunch of women were arrested and prosecuted for being parts of various pedo rings

disgusting. wasn't false representation in an app not for her and sending the pictures to some already considerable as being a giant bitch that was guilty?!! god straight people!!!! easy for the lawyer for the girl about moving on. when the teacher would be now having employment problems.  :fight: while the girl would be untouched by the BS that she wrought.

like did they not ask WHY he girl was on grindr in the first place. what was her intent there?!.

update: from what i could dig up. the teacher got a lot of support from their community. with hopefully online and real life repercussions to the 2 students from their community. also the girl was found not guilty but the guy was yet for verdict…..i think.
