Changing file locations (Relocating) Files in uTorrent
-
More than likely everyone knows this, but I've just figured out how to relocate the files in uTorrent that I'd moved to a different folder.
I've been trying to organise my files as from the get go I didn't set up the same folder for upload and download (when I created a new torrent I'd forget to move the file into my download folder). Anyway finally figure it outclose uTorrent
Move the file to the new location using windows explorer
open uTorrent (you'll see that the file(s) you moved have a red status
Click on the first file that has a red status
In the Detailed Window (F5) click on the Files Tab (it will show the files used in the torrent)
Right click the file(s) and click Relocate
Use the file browser to select the file in it's new location.
Click Save
Note: I relocated some of my files to a different drive and it appeared to copy them as read only. When I tried to relocate it came up with a dialogue box saying that the file was read only. Just use file browser to locate file, right click the file name select properties and uncheck 'read only' click save then try again in uTorrent to relocate the file.Hope this helps some poor little newbie like myself!

Thanks for the tip. I hadn't thought of doing it that way.
I move the whole torrent into a new location. Then I right-click on the torrent in the main window and choose Advanced/Set Download Location and then point to the new location. You may have to 'start' the torrent again.
Another thing to remember is that you can choose the download location before you start downloading. A lot of people seem to have a default download folder in uTorrent. I don't I choose the folder each time I download. If you click on the arrow at the right of the save as dialog you will get a list of recent folders and you can always go into Explore mode by ysing the little box with … on
