Gay Republican Group Declines to Endorse Donald Trump
By Jeremy W. Peters of The New York Times
      October 22, 2016

The Log Cabin Republicans, a conservative gay and lesbian political organization, declined on Saturday to endorse Donald J. Trump for president, revealing split feelings within the group over whether the Republican nominee is really the advocate of gay rights he claims to be.

Citing the Russian proverb that Ronald Reagan used to sum up his feelings on negotiating with the Soviets — Доверяй, но проверяй (Trust, but verify) — the group said in a written statement that it was not yet prepared to fully support Mr. Trump’s candidacy.

“Should Mr. Trump become our nation’s next president, Log Cabin Republicans welcomes the opportunity to work with his administration,” the statement said. “Until and unless that happens, our trust would be misplaced.”

Instead, Log Cabin Republicans said the organization planned to spend the remaining weeks before the election working to ensure that its party maintains its majorities in the House and Senate.

Mr. Trump’s record on gay rights is muddled. And Log Cabin Republicans indicated that its members were torn between the favorable words Mr. Trump has spoken about gays, lesbians and transgender people and the anti-gay-rights policies he has embraced.

Mr. Trump has gone further than any Republican nominee in publicly declaring his personal view on the issue — at the Republican National Convention he announced his belief that “L.G.B.T.Q. citizens” should be protected from persecution. But he has also pledged to name Supreme Court justices who would overturn the decision legalizing same-sex marriage, embraced activists from the religious right who want to reverse many of the more recent legal protections put in place and did little as social conservatives pushed through a party platform that is deeply disapproving of gay and lesbian families.

“Mr. Trump is perhaps the most pro-L.G.B.T. presidential nominee in the history of the Republican Party,” Log Cabin Republicans said in its statement. “Rhetoric alone regarding L.G.B.T. issues does not equate to doctrine,” it added.

Not that surprising to be honest. They want someone who straight out says he doesn't support their rights.

While I don't think I can vote for Trump or Hillary, why don't you comment on the gazillions, and I mean 10's of millions of dollars the Clinton Foundation has taken from Arab countries that routinely oppress AND kill their women and gays.  Funny how no one has problems taking money from these countries and then "here came the favors" for those dollars.  Hypocritical and disgusting, but by all means, yes she's for women and gays.  Hillary is for one person…Hillary, i guarantee u she could care less about your lives now or if she is in the White House.  Why should she, her and her hubby are worth around $110 MILLION dollars, yeah, she's one of us lol!!!

Yeah, I can't support Trump but no way I'm supporting Hillary. The countries she hobnobs with kill gays and she only changed her opinion on gays to get votes. I don't trust her one bit.
