Posting a duplicate torrent… just change the name Right.... WRONG
-
I must admit that I had to wait a while before posting this to stop myself from using language that is frowned on by the mods and don't really want my butt kicked while I get this off my chest. This is for all you folks who are uploading torrents to the site and changing the name of the file to something totally off base and wrong. Just downloaded a number of Themed movies that looked new and interesting and was looking forward to watching them. Well surprise surprise when I go to watch the first one which turns out to NOT BEING THE NAME OF THE FILE, or TORRENT and info describing the movie were totally false but instead was (Prayers for Bobby). A great movie yes but as I already had it, wouldn't have bothered downloading the torrent I did if it had been honestly posted. Go for the second movie and again nothing like what the torrent said but was rather the Mathew Sheppard Story another great movie but not what was in the name of the torrent, description of the movie or name of the movie as listed in the torrent. Are you people so desperate for seed points you need to turn into a _____head just to get them and/or don't want your torrent tagged as a duplicate? Now I feel better…. sure hope the uploaders don't..... but honestly I doubt that.

Any information, e.g. the title, categories, pictures and description must correctly represent the content of the files shared with the torrent and avoid misleading members about the content. This applies as well to additions, votes or comments made by other members than the original uploader. In doubt, rather than providing wrong information, omit it.
If it is misleading, please report it.

Bluesurfer, as junior said, report the torrents.
If someone is doing this often they can be warned.
And perhaps put a comment on the torrent that it is not what it says so other people will know
-
I have no plans on reporting these torrents to the moderators or anyone else for that matter. I
ve said my piece on the matter and am not interested in collecting points for reporting duplicates, or getting members in trouble. If other members want to report these torrents for the points they are welcome to them. Frankly I
m pissed off enough about the matter as it is and dont need a moderator implying that I
ve done something wrong by not reporting the torrents. Is this another rule that I`m not aware off? If so let me know what rule and where it's posted. That's all I have to say on the matter and it's not my intention to be rude to junior or you cannonmc, just letting you and anyone else who bothers to read my post know that this time I'm fine with saying my piece but if it continues then these posters can expect me to post a comment on any future torrents they screw around with. :true: -
It is not mandatory to report a bad torrent or a duplicate.
My concern was others may be conned into downloading files that they already have.
-
While I have to agree that it would be a shame for others to be conned into downloading files that they already have, I have dealt with this issue the same way as I deal with other such issues in my life. I prefer to speak my mind on the issue first, preferably face to face, but this is the best I can do when in a forum so I will have to settle with that. Should this continue (the sleazy renaming and uploading of duplicate files) then I will have no problems in posting my comments to their torrents and/or reporting of same to the site mods. Until then… such is life that we all must deal with these issues in a manner that is most comfortable to oneself. I can't (and won't) change who I am. First I speak my mind then I act if the problem continues after that..... such is life.

Please don't confront them in the comments section, it just turns in to a bigger mess and more work. We can not correct any issue until the torrent get reported. Nothing was said that it was mandatory or against the rules if you don't. We reply on the users being the police force to report them.

As I said first I speak my mind then I act if the problem continues after that….. I also said I would be saying something in the comments. My comments would only contain the real name of the movie being downloaded... period. I would also report the torrent but not as a duplicate but rather as a note to the moderator with the pertinent information. I don't plan on using the option of reporting it as a duplicate as I don't want 50 seed points for reporting but rather ensure the moderators can deal with the user in private. The issue for me is not the posting of a duplicate multi media file torrent or for that matter any other type of torrent that is a duplicate as I have been guilty of doing that myself in error. The issue for me is the posting of a torrent under a different name, with wrong information etc... something that I don't believe is something that is done in error. What the moderators do is between those members responsible for these torrents and the mods. I hope that clears up any concerns you may have.

Well after saying that off I go and end doing exactly that, posting a torrent with a different name and wrong information. I corrected the error as soon as one of the members let me know (THANK YOU), but I was wrong to say it can't be done in error. I've just posted this to say SORRY for not looking at this issue closer than I did.
