Yeah so, idk how to torrent.

First off, how do I figure out the file type of the torrent I downloaded (like whether it's mp4, mov, etc)? Properties setting doesn't tell me the file type except "Torrent".

Second, I know how to download files, but then it's a matter of converting them into file types i can actually playback on Windows Media Player. The conversion site i use doesn't currently support the Tor file type. What would you recommend/suggest that I do?

Click on See full list in any torrent page in order to view a file's extension.

If you download and use VLC media player you wont have to worry about your downloaded torrent's extensions or how to convert them.

Perhaps just to expand a little.

The torrent files you download from here are not movies that you can watch. They are 'signposts' that enable your torrent client (uTorrent, Bittorrent…) to locate the files they refer to.

All torrents are just that, no type at all. When you open the torrent file in a torrent client it will tell you what you will (hopefully) be downloading. As Spintendo says if you click on the File List it will tell you what the torrent file will be looking for.

You will not need to convert anything as your torrent client will download the files as they are meant to be.

So your first job is to get a torrent client. I would recommend this one to start.

It is easy and has none of the pitfalls of later versions. Install, download a torrent file and open it with uTorrent. Choose somewhere to save your download files and you should soon have something to watch. Make sure you keep seeding after you complete.

PS Tor is something completely different.

PPS If you need more help (and you probably will) just ask away  🙂
