It's Game of Thrones for me, but LOTR is not that bad. I just love how GoT focused more on the characters and philosophies of men, and how realistic its fantasy seems to be.

I guess the question is about the adaptation for the tv and for the silver screen..
I guess in that case it's gonna be very hard for Game of Throne to beat the marvelous , incredible shots from New Zeland you have in LOTR captured on Red cams. I mean the views are so ecstatic.
Game of throne is not bad but it's mostly CG for large shots. Besides it's difficult to compare a movie to a tv show. That's not the same kind of production at all..(time , money..)
Now about the storytelling, GOT is not bad but it's not as innovative as LOTR.. GOT is largely inspired from the Druon books " les rois maudits" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Accursed_Kings ) with fantasy elements. LOTR marks a revolution in literature. I mean Martin might be good but he's no Tolkien..

Agreed.  The Hobbit was a bit of a disappointment, in particular the The Battle of the Five Armies.  Shame!  🙂

Maybe because LOTR is a trilogy books which was adapted into trilogy film while Hobbit is a single book that was thinly spread out to a trilogy film
