Audio - Video out of sync

Hi All,
I was watching a video on my computer last night and about 10 mins in the audio was no longer matching up with the video. In this day and age is there a way to get them back in sync? I am using a Mac if that makes a difference program wise.

There is a way (I assume for a Mac too) but it is very frustrating. You think you should advance the audio only for it to be even more ahead or vice versa.
Another problem is if the two go more and more out of synch over the length of the movie. I think I've only ever managed to cure one movie with that problem and I can't even remember how or with what I did it.
For a PC, TMPGEnc can do a good job at adjusting the synch.
Alternatively you could just dub the whole thing with suitable music ;D

you can just adjust "on the fly" the delay between video and audio stream so it synchronize again. you'll have to adjust severals time through the whole lenght of the movie if it's a long one, as the delay increase .
to do that , use of course VLC, then you can use short cuts "J" and ' K' to increase decrease the audio by a 50ms delay by each press,( keys can be F and G depends on version) or manually set the time under Tools> synchronization. > adjust delay. -

I was playing around with vlc I think its just too far gone. the video starts off fine for a few minutes. I then tried adjusting it but cant get it exact. These are the things in life I am anal about.
My search for a better copy will commence.
