If semen/blood is exposed to air, there is no chance of AIDS?

My thinking is if a semen is exposed to air then the virus dies. If a protected sex happens then the guy pulls out the condom and shoots outside the anus, will there be a chance of aids?

It's true that the AIDS virus will die fairly quickly when it is exposed to air. Transmittance of HIV may occur through exchange of bodily fluids. Such can still occur if you happen to have a cut where your partner's ejaculate lands. I have no idea whether the contact time of the semen to the air, while it is flying (or whatever) is long enough to kill off all the viruses before it comes in contact with the wound. My guess is that the chance is extremely small to get infected this way.

The HIV virus will not die when exposed to air during ejaculate. Semen comes out in globs of droplets, with only the outer portion being exposed to air –- anything on the inside of the ejaculate glob has no contact with air.
Using condoms provides very good (but not perfect if condom breaks) protection; withdrawal when shooting is a safer practice as well. I would recommend shooting away from any area that has a mucosal layer (mouth, anus, eyes, nose --- easy viral penetration into blood system). As FlammeRouge mentioned, broken skin also poses a threat; but intact skin is okay.

i think that HIV lasts for about half a minute, while hepatitis lasts for a couple of hours at least
basically, if he shoots outside any kind of mucous membrane (your anus), it doesn't matter, there's literally no change of getting infected so long as you don't do anything with the sperm afterward

The general rule is once it's dry, you're safe. If blood is still wet, it stands a chance at still being active, but if left exposed to air over time, in smaller amounts, it will dry quicker, and as it dries, yes…. It is correct that the HIV virus itself does die.

HIV can live 9 hours outside the body. I'm a lab tech and have studied this disease intensely. Being gay and active, I need to know these facts. The viral disinfectants work within 10-15 minutes. The best choice is bleach. Obviously, there isn't any effective disinfectant that can be used on mucous membranes. All you can do is get tested regularly and use precaution. BTW, there is some theory that semen in the mouth is safe. The enzymes in saliva "might" inactivate the virus. Spitting doesn't matter. Don't take the chance. Personally, I hate the taste of rubber/latex. I would hate the illness more. Oh, yeah, I forgot. Pre-cum can carry the virus, too. Any questions? Feel free to ask. I've studied STD's in depth since 1982 when my best friend died needlessly.

It is actually noted that if the person is on HIV meds and has an undetectable viral load that there has not been so much as one confirmed case of transmission, even with unprotected sex. Bull (dramatic pause) shit. There are PLENTY of confirmed cases of transmission with unprotected sex amongst people with undetectable viral loads thanks to suppressive therapy. There is a lower risk of transmission with a lower viral load, that does not go close to meaning that there is a zero percent risk of transmission with an undetectable load, especially regarding unsafe sex.

Interestingly enough, neither of the articles seem to mention follow up testing such as the genotype testing to confirm whether the person who was HIV+ and undetectable was the person who caused the infection, or if it came from somewhere else. In some more in-depth studies, they all noted that the genotype tests revealed that the cause of infection in cases where transmission did occur did not actually come from the person with the undetectable viral load.

AIDS does not live outside the body (the only way for someone to have AIDS instead of HIV is for an infant to be born with it due to they have no immune system when they are first born).

AIDS does not live outside the body (the only way for someone to have AIDS instead of HIV is for an infant to be born with it due to they have no immune system when they are first born).
Just to point out a technicality… The CDC defines AIDS as having a CD4 count below 200. An advanced case of HIV can drop the CD4 count below 200, however there are other things that can do this as well, including some cancers such as a lymphoma blastoma. So technically, while AIDS by medical definition does not technically require the presence of HIV, the two generally do go hand in hand, once it progresses to an advanced enough stage.

The risk of contraction either way from any form of oral sex (such as a blowjob) is virtually nonexistent. That being said, when it comes to anal sex, the risk depends on a few factors. The most important of these is the person's viral load. If they both maintain an undetectable viral load, there is no risk of transmission of a new strain from one partner to the other.
By the same token, as long as the person who is HIV+ maintains an undetectable viral load, the risk of transmission to the partner is HIV free is nonexistent.
Also, the higher the viral load, the greater the risk. Generally speaking, anything under 50,000 carries a minimal risk, and it goes up from there.

Two different questions:
1. Can a top get infected.
YES. It may be a bit more difficult but it happens all the time.2. Can you get infected from a bodily fluid ending up on bleeding skin?
I asked this back in the 90s when I was heavily into the Punk scene. Dancing could scrape your skin and expose you to other people's blood. The research indicated that the virus has to enter the blood stream in a significant amount to cause an infection. ie. Getting stabbed with a blade or injecting drugs or vigorous fucking to push the virus past the blood pressure pushing blood out of the body through broken skin or the tendency for surface wounds to clot quickly. So cumming on top of a scratch (pausing for a moment :puke:) won't do it.
