Janet Jackson's new Album/Tour?
-
BET mess up a tribute???????????????????? NEVER!!!! I could never imagine it!!!! LOL
Yes, the Janet tribute was really good and she was gorgeous in her "Unbreakable" diamond line. I just wished she performed "No Sleeep." The BET awards would have been the perfect place to perform/promote an R&B/chill type song.
The Bad Boy tribute was entertaining for me. When Lil Kim came up through the floor I said "Who is this woman? She bears little resemblance to the Lil Kim I used to know." LOL It was great seeing everyone back together though.
Unlike you 36605domtop, "Peaches N Cream" was the only song I liked by 112. I agree the performance was weak. I was never into their music anyway. I can't believe Carl Thomas wasn't there? Man, "I Wish" would have been a great replacement for French Montana
Here's a fun tidbit it seems nobody else has caught.. when Chris Brown was dancing up and down the audience (I think that was him), on his way back down towards the stage he was vouging. How befitting during Gay Pride (at least in NY)?
kairinamine, she released another sound clip (I think before "No Sleeep"), not sure if it'll sound like "Go Deep" but for you guys who haven't heard it I'll list below

Yeah, I was never a big fan of 112. It was Jodeci vs. Boys II Men for me, or maybe Jagged Edge vs Dru Hill towards the later 90's.
I saw Chris Brown, but didn't see the voguing until I just re-watched the clip. He seemed to be having a good time. No incidents came out of the weekend for him so good for him.
Thanks for that new clip.
Sounds like an interlude for the new album. We know how Janet likes her interludes, lol. That would be perfect to lead into something really uptempo like "So Excited " from 20 Y.O.
I was disappointed that she didn't perform "No Sleep", but at least she played the music to make people ask, "What's that?" I'm sure we'll get a video here shortly, and a slew of performances before she kicks off the tour.

Lol. I love it. It's cool though. I was wondering what she was saying in the chorus - "a fait accompli"
Well, just drop some French on me from somewhere out of the blue. -
I didn't know what the hell she was talking about either, but I was so into the song it didn't matter LOL. She could have at least made an obvious French reference before saying that phrase.

Ok, things don't look as rosy as previously thought.
-
Yeah, it looks like she held steady on a couple of the r^b charts she was on last week, but for everything else, she fell completely off the charts. Looks like the BET gave her a little boost, but this single really isn't the right song coming off of a 7-8 year absence. She needed a good dance song to remind us of young Janet, and to show us she still has it. I hope reviews of those first tour dates are good to tide us over until the second single.

A good dance single would have been perfect for Pride last month. Maybe this new album will be more mid tempo than dance oriented? At first I was kinda surprised "No Sleeep" fell off, but as I think about it, it makes sense. Why would it stay on the charts and sell when there's hardly any promotion? No official video, no live (or lip-synced) performances, and hardly any TV or printed ads. To me, she missed a great opportunity by not performing this single (or something else new) at the BET Awards. There's also Kimmel, Fallon, SNL etc. I'm still curious how this is going to play out considering she's going on tour next month with an album that hasn't dropped and no live performances yet.

Ok, the official video for "No Sleeep" is HOT!!! (IMHO). Makes me like the song even more.

I literally just read an article on yahoo about the video.
Seems she grabbed J. Cole to drop a verse on the video track. I do like the video, definitely fits the tempo and mellowness of the song. Maybe it will help get the single back on track. Hopefully too much time hasn't passed since the BET Awards and now to save it.

I loved the video! Can't wait to see what comes next!

Guys, I read about the colabo with J Cole the day before. I listened to it and didn't partially like it. I didn't even know she was going to drop a video so this was a sweet surprise.
I think she's gonna breathe new life in the song. Thanks for posting the article 36605domtop and kairinamine I'm excited to about what's "cumming" next from her.

Here's the new album's title track.

This one is going to have to grow on me. It didn't grab me at first listen.
Here's a link covering one of her opening tour dates.

Yeah… when I first heard this track, I was on the fence with it. It sounds too busy and I really couldn't focus on the lyrics. Hearing it for a 2nd time, I like it a little more, but still not loving it. Thanks for posting 36605domtop.
Did you hear the track she did with Missy Elliot? I think the audio from her concert was posted briefly and then disappeared.

Has anyone heard the album? I think its a great album. Love "Night" and "Damn Baby"
