Requests for reseeds (and the lack of thanks)
-
I get quite a few requests for reseeds via the automated messages. These contain the name of the person who requested the reseed.
I always check the torrent to see if it is being reseeded (on one recently I was the the only reseeder)
But what puzzles me is that I expect to see the name of the requester in the thanks column in which he at least says thanks to the OP (no donation of bonus points necessary). And in the majority of cases, not a word. Nor from the other people who jump on the bandwagon.
And rarely a comment in the comment box thanking the reseeder(s)
I've made this point on another site but…
If I post a torrent, that is my choice. If you download it then it is polite to say thank you but you didn't ask for the post.
If you ask someone to post a torrent or reseed a torrent, that is your request and if someone goes to the bother of using his time and bandwidth to help you, your conscience should tell you a 'thanks' is mandatory.
Rant over (for the moment)

I've also noticed that in most cases (not all, but the majority) the person making the reseed request tends to have low sharing ratios, e.g. less than 0.5. Perhaps the two are related.
I wish there was a way to donate seedpoints to those who reseed. I usually end up giving seedpoints to the original seeder, as that's the only person I can identify (I've only had one reseed request fulfilled though). Perhaps there needs to be the ability to attach seedpoints to future requests which goes to the first person to reseed it (or the original seeder) before they can be sent?

You make some good points
And sadly there is no way of knowing if the original poster is till around so you could be spending bonus points that nobody gets.
